Ever punched someone before? Well, i have… Well, not deliberately at least.

It was in Primary School. I was primary 2 or 3 in Jin Tai Primary when i got to know the “victim”. I can’t remember his name. But i think there’s a “Loong” in his last name.

Loong and me were pretty good friends. We’ll play some RPG (Role Playing Games) during Recess break with some friends. We would all choose a super hero character we would like to be and we’ll take sides - The Good Guys vs The Bad Guys (I would always play the Good Guy cos i always like to win!).

Boys being boys (hey, some girls took part too - they like to play female super-heroines), we loved to play rough. One fella was performing a dragon stance. I was pulling some ninja moves. Another guy just did some silly gestures that resembled a monkey (the Monkey-King was a huge hit on TV). So it was Good vs. Evil, the clash of the titans, the David and Goliath epic, etc etc…

Michael swings a round house ninja death blow. Loong, Michael’s faithful side kick, drew a huge breath of fresh air and imitated some “10 Brothers Deity” that had really huge typhoon blasting lungs (and a mighty bad breath for that matter). The Dragon Stance fella was doing a really bad job with his timid roars. The Monkey-King was no better, falling flat on his butt after failing to deal a fatal blow on Loong.

Man, it was hilarious thinking back to those good old days - the things we do when we were kids.

So… As always, The Good Guys won the day (and saved the damsel in distress along the way). Loong and me.. We make a great team. :)

Anyways, on to the “incident”. One day, during Recess, Loong and me were practicing some moves for our next “Big Fight” (*grinz* At this juncture, i must confess that i’m taking some creative and satirical liberties on the storyline, but on the whole it remains faithful to the message). Loong showed me his new “Bated Breath” killer blow. I was pretty impressed by his new level of skill. Not willing to be out-witted by my dear friend, I decided to show him a slick new move i was practicing for at home.

Its a whacker of a ninja flying fist move.

“Wow! Cool!”, exclaimed Loong.

“Yeah, man! Here goes!”, i said as i squatted down to prepare for the move.

“HEEE YAAA!!!” i screamed as i sprung up like a spring and contorted my arms in a strange manner and lunged forward.

“POW!” I screamed!

“Oouuuccchhhhhh!” screamed Loong (even louder).

I was surprised. But then i felt a sharp pain in my knuckles. To my horror… i realized what i had just done. I had hit Loong on his right eye. He was reeling in pain on the grass field.

As we were training in a secluded part of the basketball court, no one saw what happened. Loong was tearing in both his eyes. He was not a happy camper.

I apologized profusely. He refused to be consoled. He ran away screaming, “I’ll tell Ms Lee!”

I was traumatized. Ms Lee was one of our teachers. If she knew that i had hit another student, i was done for. I didn’t know what to do. I just stood there in the field, still in shock that i had hit my faithful side-kick and he is now turning against me.

My life just seemed to flash by past my eyes. I’ll end up in prison like The Bad Guys on TV? My future is ruined! Oh no! What have i done?…

Well, Loong clearly wasn’t happy with me punching him (albeit accidentally). I was at risk of loosing a friend.

“Yaaahhhhhh!”

I turned around to see a tearing Loong lunging at me, with his right fist held high. Being such a scrawny kid, this pose really looked funny. But Loong was far from a cute mood.

He started hitting me. Punching me on my arm and back. He was furious all right.

I made little or no attempt to defend myself for i know i was in the wrong. I somehow found the situation quite hilarious and i started laughing. (My friends know that i laugh when i’m being hit or slapped or pinched… Its my mechanism of dealing with the pain. I suspect the Endorphines released during laughter somehow relieves the agony).

To make a long story short, Loong was pretty upset. He told our form teacher but she kinda shrugged it off as youthful playfulness… And she didn’t know me to be the violent sort. Well, Loong wanted revenge and he got it pretty much even. I was blue black all over my arms and back.

Well, we remained friends for the rest of the semester. And we stopped playing the RPG.

*Ouch*… heh heh…
